About us

Hamlovers is an independent gourmet store on the web that delivers fabulous Spanish ham and gourmet foods to discerning customers around the world.

We've hand-picked our suppliers who use traditional methods which haven't changed much in hundreds of years. Artisan farmers who pride themselves on top quality: healthy meat that's good for you and tastes incredible.

Artisans like the Pedroches Valley farmers' co-operative in Andalucia, southern Spain. Or the folks at La Jabugueña, who are fighting for stricter laws to ensure that industrial ham producers don't claim to be "artisans". And we're proud to work with world-famous brands like Cinco Jotas and Joselito, both from Jabugo in Spain.

Our founders

Josh Merrow (43), originally from Greenwich CT, USA, married his Spanish girlfriend and settled in Barcelona twelve years ago. He's a cyclist, jazz pianist and dad. Guy Spriggs (49) is a British entrepreneur and foodie who created successful companies in England and Holland before moving to Barcelona with his Dutch wife and kids "to pursue our dreams in a beautiful, sunny city by the sea." Josh and Guy met while dropping off their kids at the same local school in Barcelona. They became friends and built Hamlovers.com after realizing you couldn't find proper Spanish ham outside Spain and that just wasn't fair to the rest of the world.

Hamlovers' Ramón Baiget and Josh Merrow discuss the food

Hamlovers was chosen to judge the food for episode 8 of Ramsay's Best Restaurant. During the filming in July in London, Josh and Ramón (Ramón works with us in Spain), and the other judges, including the Spanish ambassador to the UK, sampled dishes from Fino and El Pirata, two of London's best Spanish restaurants. Fino ended up winning, and went on to the finals.
